Body & Display
The Galaxy J3 Pro comes in an all-metal body which gives it
a rather premium look and feel. It comes with a 5” HD 720p display which should
be good enough for a sharp viewing experience. If Apple can offer a 720p
“Retina Display” in a 4.7” phone, you can bet the Galaxy J3 Pro’s display will
be good enough, too!
Camera
While megapixels have generally gone up, general image
quality isn’t improving as fast. The Galaxy J3 Pro offers a 8MP rear camera
with flash and a 5MP front camera but, again, expect middling image quality as
this is a low-cost device.
Hardware Performance
The Snapdragon 410 is a quad-core 1.2GHz chip which when
combined with a 2GB RAM (compared to 1.5GB in Galaxy J3) will get you through
basic tasks with a couple of apps running in the background, but that’s about
it. Android also tends to get slower with time, and the effect is worse on
low-end chips like the 410. But again, you understand this since this is a
low-budget smartphone, right? 16GB of internal storage is expandable to 128GB
so that’s nice, at least.
It comes with a competitive, removable 2600mAh battery, as
well.
Software
It’s a little outdated, but at least it performs well.
Android 5.1 Lollipop isn’t the bleeding edge of Android, but it’s a solid,
stable operating system. You won’t really be missing any of the big new
features in Android 6.0 Marshmallow here. Don’t expect an upgrade either, as
low-end phones in specific markets often don’t make the cut.
